Become an Umpire in Alaska

Become a high school umpire in Alaska

To become a baseball umpire in Alaska, you must follow specific steps to get started. Here’s a breakdown of what you need to know:

Registration:

All umpires must register with the Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA) and ArbiterSports.

Local Association:

By joining local associations created in cooperation with the ASAA, they can help advance your career, provide training and rules assistance, and help new members with game assignments.

 Exam and Other Requirements:

You must take the NFHS rules exam, pass with at least 75%, and pass a background check (valid for three years). Umpires must also sign a Code of Ethics of what is expected.

Fees and Dues:

Be prepared to pay registration fees to the ASAA. These fees cover the cost of essential resources like the NFHS Rule Book, Case Book, and Officials Manual.
